The Buzz
Bouillabaisse is the simple seafood vision of Kurt Zdesar and Jordan Sclare, who came together having launched the famous Peruvian/Japanese Chotto Matte. Their vision is to provide perfectly done seafood inspired by coastal towns across the world to remind us of holidays and times when our worries are left behind. Tucked in 4 Mills Street, just behind Regent’s Street, it is the best eating secret any foodie will hoard to themselves.
What to expect
The restaurant’s décor reminisces of summer holidays in Mediterranean coastal towns of the 1950s, but still with the sophistication you would expect in a four star restaurant. Bouillabaisse’s crowd varies from the city, to couples looking for a candle-lit casual amour atmosphere. The food is so fresh you’d think it was caught straight out of the water moments before (if indeed there was a pier nearby).
From the menu
The average price per head is about £50 for a three course dinner. A most recommended and must-try is the Sea bass Carpaccio appetiser. Succulent slices of sea bass are marinated in sharp lemon juice that hits the palette like rays of summer. For the mains there is more than just fish as those who like lobster will adore the Lobster Platter. Accompanied with clams, mussels, prawns and squid (there is more than enough to share amongst two with this order) it is a symphony of the sea that will truly make you lips sing! Even the side dishes are not to be taken lightly from the delight as sautéed potatoes are done with care and a most welcomed crunch, while the sautéed spinach can only be described as greens of glory.
Good for…
Bouillabaisse is good for birthdays, dates, business dinners to impress. This is definitely a hot spot to take guests from out of town, as it is a fine dining journey that will make lasting impressions.
